“Bigoted writing of ancient men who were seeking to exert power over others for their own advantages…”‘ – President Dr Burks speaking generally about what other see concerning the Bible’s authors.
That may be true, Dr Burks, concerning the authors, but in modern day if a person in power is using the ancient text in the harmful manner in which you described, does it make that statement any less important to discuss analytically? You are case-in-point, Dr Burk.

I am a Memphis native and an undergrad student at another small college in Arkansas, about an hour away from Harding. We have a very active gay-straight alliance, and when we heard about the situation at Harding we immediately contacted them to ask what we could do to help. While we couldn’t do much in the way of speaking to their administration or their community due to their fear of being “outed” and dismissed from school, the ultimate end result was that we drove out to Searcy and met with a group of Harding students and faculty below the radar to share some experiences and strength with one another. Now that the relationship has been established, they have the support and resources they need, and we will continue to fight for them and protect them as best we can. We won’t let our brothers and sisters languish in the dark.
Rainbow Warrior,
I am actually an Arkansas native, what school are you attending. I would love to do an interview with you about your efforts with the gay+straight alliance. Just give me an email at the contact link (http://memphislovesgays.info/blog/contact-us/) when you have a chance.
Proud of Your Courage & Strength,
Michael J. Hildebrand
