“Love Choice”, Life and Love After an HIV Diagnosis : 12/01/10

by Michael J. Hildebrand on November 30, 2010facebooktwitteremail

“Love Choice”, a short film (50 minutes) and love story written and directed by Memphis Director Phil Darius Wallace and produced by the Caritas Village, explores one man’s struggle to answer that question. The project is funded by a grant by the Mid-South AIDS Fund.

“Harry Taylor is a corporate playboy who contracts HIV. Depressed and feeling like his life is over, he quits his job and contemplates suicide. While sleeping in his car and working at a coffee shop, he meets the woman of his dreams, Nowella Hernandez. Nowella takes a strong liking to Harry but does not know he is HIV+. Harry is afraid to tell her. After being overcome by his love for her, he finally tells her which results in a conflict that can only be resolved with a statement by the Cafe owner, “the one who saves you, loves you.” – info and quote taken from caritasvillage.org

Memphis City Council ENDO : Opposers & Supporters

by Michael J. Hildebrand on November 30, 2010facebooktwitteremail

The Council Members that voted AGAINST the ordinance:

I take a different outlook than some individuals when it comes to dealing with this set of opposers. We have six months to see if the ENDO will be placed back on the agenda for another vote. That vote would still be at the hands of these same council members. With that in mind I have decided to focus my attention on aiding those that voted for the ordinance to be re-elected at election next year and be damn sure those that opposed it are replaced with new members that can see the importance of protecting LGBT citizens of Memphis. I hope you contact those that are LGBT supporters on the council and be there for them next year when they need your support and your vote.
